Invasive plant species pull at the Peter’s Kill area of Minnewaska State Park, Monday, October 18 at 4:30pm. Bring gloves, clothes you can trash, long pants, boots, water, & lots of swear words. Minnewaska has all of the tools we need to use. Contact: GCC@gunksclimbers.org

The Gunks Climbers’ Coalition is hosting the annual Gunks Adopt-A-Crag day at the Peter’s Kill area of Minnwaska on October 30, 2010. Meet at the bathroom area at 10am and help us with trail maintenance, mulch spreading, micro-trash cleanup – plus free climbing afterwards, giveaways, and Halloween tours of the talus caves. Legendary climber Pat Ament is coming to the NY/NJ area at the end of April/beginning of May. Pat’s new film, “The Disciples of Gill,” is getting rave reviews. The film features John Gill – the greatest boulderer of all time.
If you are a climber, boulderer, hiker, love the outdoors, if you have an interest in climbing history, if you like merely to be inspired, if you want to see a work of art, this is the night, this is the show! A MUST SEE !!!!!

Nicky Dyal, a true daughter of the Gunks, found fear and passion on the route Jackie, belayed by her dad, when she was only twelve years old. Today she travels the world seeking climbs with a similar spirit in far flung places like Greece and Sardinia. Her image can be seen in beautiful photographs, taken by climbing photographer Jim Thornburg, in numerous climbing magazines, catalogs and calendars (including the cover of the 2008 Women of Climbing Calendar – http://www.sharpendbooks.com/cal.php?y=2008 ).
Join Nicky for an evening of spectacular photography and stories as well as a full dose of Nicky’s wholesome and contagious love for our sport.
Admission fee of $5 will be donated to the GCC. Raffle tickets $1 each. Updates from the GCC and Q&A will proceed the show.
