I'm heading up to the Daks for a couple of overnights in the next month or so. It'll be for 1 or 2 nights each time. It will be mid-week and I can cancel if the weather looks bad (altho I understand the mud factor from previous storms).

I haven't been there for decades. And then I was up there in the winter last and loving the lack of crowds. I'm taking my daughter (strong adult, not a kid) and want to show her some of the sights. I like the list from the Day Hikes thread (thanks all).

My question is where are the best places to camp?

My wife and I stayed at the Hobbit House (Saranac Lake):

And the Night Rain Cabin is right next door.

it is a GREAT house, and not much $$, about 10 to 15 minutes from Marcy and Algonquin peaks, and lots of other hikes.
