So originaly was going to register for some snowshoes for our wedding, but likely will not wait that long and will pick up soe before that. a pretty set on getting some MSR's but REI has 3 kinds listed on their website.

any real difference? I know the ascents have a little bar that lifts out so as to make climbing the steeps easier on your calfs

Denali is the basic snowshoe, and least expensive. The Evo has a tapered shape to suit ones natural gait. The Evo Ascent has a climbing bar that you can flip up and lock in place for climbing up hills to reduce calf strain and leg fatigue. I'd say go with the Evo Ascents.
