Ok, so Oregon isn't exactly local. Oregon Measure 37 is an extreme response to equally extreme land use regulations in Oregon, justifications for which are very similar to those cited for the also extreme Mohonk Preserve and Nature Conservancy supported Gardiner Zoning Law.
Measure 37, approved by 61 percent of Oregon voters in November 2004, and by an even larger margin in Yamhill County, requires governments to pay landowners for property value losses caused by regulation, or to forgo regulations enacted since its acquisition.
