So : who's shocked at this ? ultimate big government by the so-called anti big gover. league. . . .
Think the Republican congress'll finally get around to impeaching Bush ( have to do Cheney at same time. Who's next, Hastert? what a group.)
note - they say ' not recording actual calls, just the phone #, address, . . '
anyone believe this line ? is there any difference?

There was an interview recently with a Bell South (I think), switch manager, in which he detailed the type of equipment that was being installed in their switches by the NSA, for eavesdropping.... I'll try to dig up the article...

Anyway, I was in the telecom industry for 10 years, many of them at the wholesale level. I remember reading it and thinking; "hmmmm... that equipment would make it pretty easy to listen to phone calls."

So, in keeping with my well-known stance:
Thank you, to all the morons out there who keep voting for these police-state, war-mongering, fear-mongering assholes. Good job, idiots.

'On [the robot's] world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people.'

'Odd,' said Arthur, 'I thought you said it was a democracy?'

'I did,' said Ford, 'It is.'

'So,' said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, 'why don't the people get rid of the lizards?'

'It honestly doesn't occur to them,' said Ford. 'They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want.'

'You mean they actually vote for the lizards?'

'Oh yes,' said Ford with a shrug, 'of course.'

'But,' said Arthur, going for the big one again, 'why?'

'Because if they didn't vote for a lizard,' said Ford, 'the wrong lizard might get in.'

And if I read the newspaper article right, General Hayden that Bush tapped to head the CIA is basically the architect of the NSA's domestic spying program. So basically it's "Do something illegal, get caught, and get promoted".

First Harriet Myers, now this. It's almost like Bush and his team are playing a big joke on the American people, seeing how ridiculously BAD they can make each nominee. I can hear it now, "Let's see, how about I nominate my daughter?" (much laughter)

"No, no, let's get Brownie back in here. His consulting deal with FEMA's almost up" (guffaws all around the table)

"Wait, wait, I got it - Gen. Hayden !!" (Cheney shoots milk out his nose...)

That was pretty funny Mike.

Anyone heard any of Neil Young new album? Old music, but the words could have been written by us. I keep hearing/seeing Bush touching down on the carrier and saying, “Mission accomplished” as an opposing campaign add.

I can’t fathom how they can win, I can’t understand how they can win, I can’t see how they can win … but they just might!

On topic: what GW said was that they weren’t listening to untargeted calls. They record all the numbers everyone calls. They know your number, so if they want to know whom you call they start with your number.

Now when they want to spy on their opponents they wait for activity between people they want to hear. Then if they listen in on that conversation it’s not listening in to every ones calls so GW didn’t lie. Of course they haven’t admitted the listening part yet, and no one has really accused anyone of spying that does not pertain to terrorists. But since any opponent is a possible terrorist you know it’s going on. I’m sure I am a possible terrorist for writing this.

Oh that’s right I should trust them.

John McCain on IMUS "I work in Washington and I know that money corrupts. And I and a lot of other people were trying to stop that corruption. Obviously, from what we've been seeing lately, we didn't complete the job. But I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

I love the quote First Amendment Rights line.

As if it were too much to expect to have clean government with full implementation of the Bill of Rights.

Mike, that was hilarious!

And I'm not gonna vote for another fucking lizard! If it comes down to a choice between Hilary and whoever Rove puts up, I'm gonna vote for Jello Biafra or some such person. I'd be way psyched if I can vote for Ed Rendell.

My previos post: "I can’t fathom how they can win, I can’t understand how they can win, I can’t see how they can win … but they just might!"

I feel the loss comming on already. I really hate to put it this way, but if your not againt em - then you are partly for em. That how we got where we are. We are gonna get who "we " vote for.

Can someone explain to me what Hillary has done to get so many people aganst her, - besides being a woman, and staying with Bill?
