Wondering if anyone has spent time down around Santa Fe, and can recommend some day hikes in the 6 to 10 mile range? My wife and I will be down around there just before Christmas.

Yes, I have done a Google search......just wondering if anyone has any personal experiences

Santa Fe Baldy is an outstanding hike. All I remember is it starts at the ski area, is in the Pecos WIlderness Area, was roughly 12,000 feet and was a nice 8ish hour round trip. Part of it is on an officially marked trail. The rest is an obvious herd path. I think it probably gets snow up there, so, if you're going in the winter-ish months it might be a good deal more of an undertaking.

Yeah, Baldy has been recommended as a great hike, but at that altitude, and given the time of year we'll be there, it will probably be fairly socked in by snow. Don't know if my wife is up for a showshoe hike....
