I haven't taken advantage of the crosscountry skiing at the gunks yet but want to this season.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has thought of cleaning a few areas of the woods around bonticou crag for tree skiing. I don't want to see a tree or bush cut down for this. I was hiking out yesturday and noticed that alot of fallen branches have been piled up in areas that had great potential. I don't have a map or I would mention the exact locations.
Is anyone interested in this and who would we need to talk too?
Also, I think it should only be open when there is good snow and like climbing, at your own risk.

the places I'm interested in cleaning are located a little farther north.

You can ski the trees above the High Peters Kill trail on the Preserve. NO "cleaning" needed. Just park at the Coxing lot, follow the light blue trail to where it turns sharply left at the base of the slope - about 8-10 minutes walk in. Look upslope and see if you don't imagine yourself coming down that hill in a foot of fresh.

why bother when hunter has lifts that bring you to much better spots and at least your not alone.
