Hi, I can't be that specific right now as there are all kinds of details still to be finalized with agreements between the major parties. The MOU was one big step though.
That being said, there is one bit of really good recent news to report. Basically to have this go through we would need to raise a fairly large chunk of change (in the low six figures.) As I write this we are processing a large donation that will put us 1/4 of the way there. And this is without us even having gone into fundraising mode! We'll have more updates, but this whole project moves, by its very nature, extremely slowly.

Here's my $0.02 worth of suggestion: start the fund raising efforts as early as you possibly can. Time and again we see pleas approaching panic on the climbing fora typically of the form "Help! We need to raise <some huge amount> to save access to <some climbing area> and we need to do it <in some ridiculously short time frame>". I remember one such instance in the southeast in the past several years where when the appeal was posted all over the place, $1M needed to be raised in something like 2 - 4 months. Yet the organizers knew for over a year prior that that much money would be needed. When the appeal goes out at the last minute, you risk success and credibility.

But isn't this public land (Town of R'dale) already? Is GCC taking it private? Is that necessary?

it is public land, yes, but it has been off limits to public use due to an accident (non climbing) and litigation issues. so, to gain access climbers need the land to change hands. and MarcC, we are not in a hurry to raise funds as it's not like a developer will swoop in and buy the place. (the town wants the land to stay watershed and reservoir - water rights will be retained by the town- this is one of the technicalities...)when the time comes to seriously start fundraising, we will have plenty of time to do so. but thanks for the comments, they are well taken. of course if you want to donate now, by all means...
