OK, so the the Tour de Gunks 2006 was myself and Phlan, Tour de Gunks 2007 Part I had me and Fraser (and almost The Lisa ) and Tour de Gunks 2007 Part Deux was just me. But we (I) did have fun so....

Tour de Gunks 2008 is on. Phlan is back in our midst, Julie is back on the east coast, and Kathy is a former MTB racer, so maybe we can actually get a group together.

The Tour de Gunks is a bike tour of as much Carriage Road (and a wee bit of singletrack) as we can stand, interrupted by lunch and a swim at Awosting Lake. The 2007 tours consisted of 50 miles +/- and I expect this year's edition will also.

I was thinking of the weekend of 26-27 July, either day, with a departure time to be determined. We'll arrange the route to allow for folks to bail early if they need to.

So, let's see if anyone is interested in the 2008 tour. It really is a nice way to spend one of those summer days when it just might be too damn hot to climb.

Hoping it comes to fruition....

Sounds like a P(h)lan.

I'm up on the 19th if you want to do it that day - it will keep me from getting gripped climbing.

I swear I haven't had a drink since. Well, maybe no Delirium Tremens anyway ;\)
However, I have been neglecting climbing due to race training so no matter the heat and humidity I plan on climbing that weekend (assuming my rope gun does not mind the heat either, that is )

Phat, but I think you could get by on something in between.

So does that mean you cannot do it on the original weekend, or are you just adding another option ?

What kind of pace do you plan to keep? I've been climbing more than riding this year, so I'm a bit slow these days.

I would guess if we all have fat tires, about 12-13 MPH avg, but I'm sure we can adjust the speed. Don't forget we'll have some stops along the way.

Hope you cna make it.
